bGrid reaches even greater heights, meet our tallest project, MOL Campus

Amsterdam 5 April 2022 –MOL Group a global oil and gas company which is active in over 30 countries – has awarded the contract to deliver the smart building solution to their headquarters in Budapest to bGrid– a PropTech company that develops smart building technology which senses, collects, positions, controls and learns to provide actionable data insights for building owners, operators, and occupants.

With this milestone of our tallest project to date, and our debut delivery in Hungary, bGrid is excited to share this news as we continue to reach for great heights. Stretching a staggering 120 meters, the elegant tower of MOL Campus on the banks of the Danube will boast spectacular views. As well as being beautiful in its design, creating a purposeful building is high priority for MOL Group, with emphasis on sustainability and wellness. Creating a sustainably conscious building as well as providing a healthy working environment for MOL Group workers was essential.

The MOL Campus is being built to consolidate the company’s Budapest operations in one place. This centralisation of the workforce brought with it an opportunity to design a new built office. The building is being created with the wellness and comfort of its occupants taking centre stage. For instance, nature is brought closer to the work space with green spaces throughout the building, acting as social hubs and creative spaces for collaboration. With the integration of smart building technology an ideal working environment and digital building can be achieved.

Serving as the digital backbone to the MOL Campus, bGrid smart building solution is a collection of wireless bGrid sensors that allow for the optimization of building utilization, through real-time data insights, and smart positioning. bGrid will gather occupancy and climate data such as temperature and humidity levels from the MOL Campus. Providing healthier meeting rooms by monitoring air quality CO2 & VOC levels. Sound and lighting levels can also be measured to enable occupants of MOL Campus find to a quite comfortable workplace.

With their drive to provide a sustainable response MOL Campus hopes to set a new benchmark for Hungary. ‘The MOL Campus seeks to preserve live-work relationships as part of the urban experience, where people are about to walk or cycle to work. All occupants have a direct connection to the external environment providing fresh air, daylight, and views. The building aims to obtain both LEED and BREEAM qualifications.’ An integral part of the MOL Group’s sustainable vision for 2030, the building provides a blueprint for the office of the future. Smart solutions are key when optimising the quality and monitoring performance of a building. Gathering climate data, lighting, and occupancy bGrid provides actionable data insights direct to facilities operators via Building Managements Systems.

bGrid is an ever-evolving solution, creating futureproof buildings that are adaptable to the changing needs of dynamic businesses such as MOL Group. bGrid itself is built to integrate; enabling third party smart building hardware and software providers to easily connect and develop together. The ultimate value in building a smart building is in its improving the lifestyle of people who work within it.

Karl van Ginderdeuren, CCO, bGrid: “There has been a great buzz amongst our team since news broke internally that we would be working with MOL Group on this iconic building. Our tallest project to date is indeed a moment to celebrate. As like many, this milestone has only been made possible thanks to the close collaboration with the MOL team and our partners along the way. I have enjoyed the collaboration up and until this point and I am looking forward to see the project come to life together with all parties involved. We are honoured to be chosen to deliver the smart building backbone to MOL Campus.”
